第九条 and Sexual Harassment

What is 第九条?

第九条 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

The University of Montevallo does not discriminate on the basis of sex in our education program or activities we operate and are required by 第九条 not to discriminate in such a manner. The requirement not to discriminate in our education program or activities extends to admission and employment. The University of Montevallo adheres to all federal, 状态, and local civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination in employment and education. The University does not discriminate in its admissions practices, in its employment practices, or in its educational programs or activities on the basis of sex/性别. The University is required by the 第九条 of the Education Amendments of 1972 to ensure that all of its education programs and activities do not discriminate on the basis of sex/性别.

The University unequivocally opposes sexual harassment of and by faculty, 工作人员, 学生, 游客, 和供应商. All members of the University community have a general responsibility to contribute in a positive way to an environment that is free of sexual harassment.

The University of Montevallo is committed to providing an educational and employment environment free of harassment and other forms of discrimination on the basis on race, 宗教, color, 性别, sexual orientation, 性别 identity, 性别 expression, 年龄, genetic information, 残疾, national origin, or veteran status against individuals or groups of individuals is not tolerated on campus. The University of Montevallo also prohibits retaliation against any person opposing discrimination or participating in any discrimination investigation or complaint process internal or external to the institution. Sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking are forms of sex discrimination, which are prohibited under 第九条 and by our Sexual Misconduct, Nondiscrimination, and Harassment policy.
